I Also Agree With you Meditation is not contemplation. Meditation is not concentration. Meditation is a state of being. It is a state of awareness. Meditation is not about doing something; rather it is about doing nothing.

Contemplation (dharana) precedes meditation. Meditation (dhyana) is a steady flow of attention, and therefore life energy (prana), to one thing, one place. Where the attention goes, the energy flows. Either you choose to put and maintain your attention on one thing, or you choose to let the Divine handle what happens with the energy. These are the only two options you have. When you do it, this is “doing something.” This is a technique. When the divine energy (shakti, holy spirit, etc.) is handling it, you are “doing nothing” even if something is happening. This is NOT a technique. This is surrender to God — surrender to Truth, the Absolute, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Ultimate, call it what you will. This is Surrender Meditation. So doing something and doing nothing is not really the issue. The issue is whether you want to run things yourself, or whether you want God to run things. Most humans are not as interested in God/Truth as they are in being in control, even though surrender-to-God is the most efficient, beautiful and effortless way for meditation to take place. For these people, techniques are best. For those whose top priority is God/Truth, Surrender Meditation is best.
